Cool Stuff We Do!

Pilgrimage
As part of Journey to Adulthood Program and after the second year of J2A, the youth and adult leaders make a holy pilgrimage to a location where faithful Christians have gone in the past. During the pilgrimage, the youth have a chance to explore and learn about a particular destination's importance to those that have gone before them and exploring their own faith journeys.

Over the past seven years, St. Martin's Youth have taken pilgrimages to Italy, Ireland, Spain, Belize, and Costa Rica. The next J2A Group will go on its pilgrimage in 2013.

High School Mission Trip (Carolina Connection)

For the past four years, high school youth from St. Peter's, St. Patrick's, Trinity, Church of the Holy Comforter, and St. Martin's have gone to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to help with relief work from Hurricane Katrina. The churches worked with various relief organizations and Christ Church (which lost everything but its bell tower in the storm) to help residents throughout the area rebuild their lives. In 2010, the churches went to Golden Isles, Georgia on their mission trip. The next trip will be in the summer of 2012 to help with tornado relief outside of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Episcopal Outreach Camp

For the past ten summers, the Charlotte Convocation Episcopal Churches have joined forces to do an mini-week outreach camp for middle school youth. Our outreach themes have involved illiteracy, the environment, and the Millenium Development Goals. Last summer's EOC focused on the Millenium Development Goals.

Mama Martino’s

Thank you to everyone who came to this year's Mama Martino's Spaghetti Dinner on February 19. We served over 225 people. The youth raised over $1,900 in tips which they donated to the Habitat for Humanity, Make a Wish Foundation, and The Episcopal Diocese of Costa Rica. In addition, the youth raised $1,200 for the 2013 Youth Pilgrimage. The are thankful for the support and look forward to seeing you at next year's dinner!

Ski Trip
We join Holy Comforter, St. Margaret's, St. Mark's, and St. Alban's on a weekend ski trip to Sugar Mountain in the mountains of Northwestern North Carolina. We spent the weekend on the slopes, playing games, and having a great time building fellowship and memories with each other. This year's trip was January 6 -8.
