Who We Are

Introducing Saint Martin's Church

Saint Martin's is an open and affirming parish of about seven hundred members, diverse in background, ideas, and demographics. This is a community in which all of God's children are welcome and included.  Out of this diversity grows a great sense of unity of commitment to standing witness to the love of God.  It is about unity and not uniformity.

We are located just over a mile from the center of Charlotte, in a century-old neighborhood, beside one of Charlotte's great city parks.  We are an intentional congregation with members coming from over twenty different zip codes, and many drive past other Episcopal churches on their way to Saint. Martin's. Members choose to come here because it a welcoming place, with a commitment to ministering to each other, Christian formation and education for all ages, and to service in the community.  Recognizing that people come here from many different traditions and experiences, we say that here you Belong and come to believe.  Some may have positive histories with church; others may not have had encouraging or sustaining experiences; and many today have had little or no experience with church.  Here we welcome you wherever you are in your journey, and know that it is the community that welcomes, teaches, and supports the seeker and pilgrim.

In addition to a full worship schedule, Saint Martin's conducts a broad range of ministries including mission and outreach, Christian formation and education, and pastoral care. Our parking lot is busy nearly every day: perhaps the best measure of an active, people and mission-oriented parish. Saint Martin's has a reputation as a warm and welcoming place and is known by many as a 'mission church'.
