Prayers for the Gulf
On 17 June 2010, St. Martin's offered, along with St. John's in Charlotte and other Episcopal parishes in the state, a vigil service of prayer for the healing of the Gulf Coast and in thanksgiving for God's creation. We have provided a link to an mp3 of that evening's service as well as a link to a copy of the liturgy. Hard copies of the liturgy are available in the church office and in the church narthex. Please use these in your private devotions, as we all continue to praye for the Gulf - its water, its animals and it's people - and the good stewardship of God's gift of the Earth.
Conor Jones, a teenager at St. Martin's, is organizing a book drive at the church and needs your help. Throughout the month of August, there will be bins located outside of the Library in the Parish House for you to drop off any new or used books for children of all ages (preschool to high school). The books will be donated to local schools in our community, including St. Martin’s Preschool. In addition to St. Martin’s, Conor is collecting books throughout his neighborhood, local pool, and school. Please help Conor make this book a success. If you have any questions about the drive, please contact Conor at 704-488-3861 or yeaconor@gmail.com. Thank you!

Kim Entrekin and Sarah Lovin will be collecting Harris Teeter VIC Numbers (on the tag on everyone’s keychain) after church on Sunday mornings. A percentage of your Harris Teeter purchase will automatically be donated to the school. Your card can be linked to more than one school, so if they are linked to another school, it does not matter. We are also selling magnets with our new logoto promote the preschool for the bargain price of $7.50 each or two for $12.00.
