May for Mission
May for Mission is a collaboration of St Martin’s Stewardship Committee and Mission Board. During May, we will be selling “housing shares”. For the bargain price of $20, you can purchase a share in housing a family that is currently homeless. 200 shares (= $4,000) will allow us, in partnership with several local agencies, to move one family out of homelessness into supportive housing. How is that possible? • Charlotte Housing Authority will provide rental subsidies. • St Martin’s parishioners will fund a social worker for one year. • Crisis Assistance Ministries will provide furniture. • St Martin’s parishioners will fund 3 baskets of household supplies. • The Men’s Shelter, the Salvation Army, the Urban Ministry Center, the Council for Children’s Rights and Charlotte Family Housing will provide community support. • A Team of 4-6 St Martin’s parishioners will move the family into their new home. • A Child’s Place will administer the funds we raise. • A St Martin’s parishioner will provide a casserole for moving day. • St Martin’s parish will surround the family with loving, prayerful support as they begin the new, housed, phase of their life. The Mission Board has already snapped up the first 5 shares – hurry and get yours quickly!
